Welcome to my on-line teaching portfolio. Any activity, including teaching and learning is directionless without a reason behind it. It is always difficult to put how you feel into words. This website contains a philosophy derived from what I am always thinking about, living, feeling and believing in. It has been a slow process transforming from a graphic artist to an art teacher,
but it has been a fullfilling journey. My work as an intern has confirmed my beliefs in becoming a teacher. Every teacher has an individual style. I embrace my individuality and hope that my students will do the same. My style of teaching is reflected in my passion for both studio art and technology. These are two fields that on the outside may not seem to have many similarities,
but they both encourage self-expression. This makes them an integral part of of any student's education and life. This website is a visual portfolio of my philosophy of teaching and how it applies in my practice. It will always be a work in work in progress, but the six categories that I have chosen should hold true over time.

Navigating the site:
I believe that there are 6 essential components to effective art teaching. I call them the 6 C's. They are coming to the classroom prepared, cooperating with students, caring for the students, captivating the student's attention, challenging yourself as a teacher and continuing to be an active artist. Click on the colored squares below to view each category. When reading my philosophy you will see text links to see visual examples from my classroom and photo links to see my portfolio artifacts. Click on the small grey squares if you are interested in directly viewing some curriculum units I have created, my action research project on learning styles , or my resumé.
Thank you and enjoy.
